Holiday Greetings To Our Readers
Having just been blessed with another Thanksgiving, the season of Advent is nearly here. We at the Wildflower Christian Community (WCC) are preparing ourselves spiritually for the Nativity of our Lord Jesus Christ, which we all know as Christmas. May it be a time of blessing and rejoicing in all of our lives.
This year at the WCC has brought about many major changes in the community life. Since improving one's lifestyle is what WCC is all about, we have seen two residents move out on their own and another resident in the process of leaving in the Spring of 2008.
What remains of the WCC is a hard core of of severely disabled residents, including Ramona and Paige, who will continue as permanent residents as long as the community exists. Even the director of the community has now been affected, after having suffered five strokes (TIA's) and has a diagnosis of Systemic Scleroderma. He has been on oxygen 24/7 since June 1st. However, he continues to persevere and has shown some improvement through the power of prayer.
The ongoing efforts of the WCC point to more outreach to the church and the community at large. Examples of this include: counselling, providing minimal funds for the poor for food, medicine and gas, assisting the elderly in work projects, and always being willing to volunteer for tasks at Trinity Episcopal Church within the physical limitations of the residents.
As residents have left, the monetary availability at WCC has been greatly reduced. In addition, skyrocketing property insurance costs have greatly impacted the WCC budget. In order for the Wildflower to continue to operate and meet the needs of the community at large, we need your support, whether through prayer or financially or both.
If you find it possible to make a Christmas donation to Wildflower it would be greatly appreciated. Remember that we are in prayer daily and urge you to send us your prayer requests. (Please remember to make checks payable to "Luke Duncan/Wildflower" in order to be accepted at the bank.)
... always and for everything giving thanks in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ ...Eph. 5:20
Please Note:
Wildflower is an organism, not an organization, ever changing as new members arrive and community needs change. We are not a 501-(c)-3 available group and a tax deduction for contributions is not available through us. We survive and thrive through the generosity of friends and strangers who believe in what our ministry is accomplishing.
What is Wildflower?
We are 'Wildflower,' Christians living in community and committed to the practice of Christian principles. We are dedicated to serving the Lord and those around us through a lifestyle which includes the study of the Holy Bible, the sharing of life experiences, prayer for the physical and spiritual needs of others, a ministry of reconciliation, and support for those who for whatever reason have become disenfranchised from the world around them. An active prayer life is the foundation of our community through Jesus Christ our Lord. We live a shared, yet independent lifestyle, giving God the glory in all we are and all we do.
... always and for everything giving thanks in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ ...
Eph. 5:20
Collect For Wildflower
Almighty and everlasting God, our gracious Father, Who hast filled the world with beauty: We ask that You water Wildflower with Your Holy Spirit and nourish it with Your love, that it may grow and bloom according to Your will and good pleasure; This we pray through Jesus Christ Your Son our savior.
Amen
